Trophy Design
The Orange Star
A unique glass trophy which captures the creative spirit in matter
Goal
Reimagine a trophy keeping in line with our vision for the Star Re.Imagine Awards, a unique platform envisaged to celebrate creativity.
Solution
The 'Orange Star' is a one-of-its-kind amalgamation of dynamism, fluidity, intuition and magic. Co-created with the legendary English glass artist Peter Layton, it manifests as an inimitable piece of art, and stands as a symbol for outstanding creativity.

Design process

The goal was to find a sweet spot between the three major elements - Star, Awards and Creativity

Concept Shortlist
A number of ideas were presented, each unique with its use of material and form. With the objective of harmonizing art with design, some concepts needed us to collaborate with renowned artists across the world.
Hands-on testing
To test the size, form and proportions of the concepts, various Styrofoam and clay prototypes were built. A few were 3D printed to test the lighting and sensor responses. The prototypes helped enhance the design features further and make a better choice.
The basis of the selected concept was its uniqueness and an abstract nature, encapsulating the spirit of star and its depiction of creativity. Other major factors included collaborating with an artist who could deliver it in the short time frame we had.

The final trophy was co-created with the renowned artist Peter Layton at his studio in London by means of glass blowing.
