BREATHE LAMP

A simple way to meditate by breathing at an ideal pace with visual guidance
Goal

The fast paced world we live in today has proved the benefits of meditation in ways more than one. However, people often struggle to start this journey. How may we help people meditate?

Solution

Focusing on your breath is the most common method of meditation. To help hold the attention on your breath, we designed a lamp which visually guides you to inhale and exhale at an ideal pace.

Meditation

- Yogi Bhajan

The moment you are in touch with your breath, the universe pours into you

Our mind is a time machine. Always wandering in the past or the future. Through meditation one tries to keep it still, not by trying to stop it from wandering but by making it pay attention.

Decorative Shape

The idea is to make paying attention easier for beginners by creating an anchor which uses a moving light to guide their breathing.

Form

Breathing is cyclical process. The form of the lamp is designed to echo this rhythm through a dynamic flowing loop. The two arms which form the loop are symbolic of the two nostrils which draw the breath.

Breathe is rechargeable and can be set to a constant light to function as a regular lamp. When not a lamp, it acts as a beautiful sculpture.

TEAM : Chinmay Nikharge, Krishan Jagota, Mahesh Gubbala, Suraj Katare

This was a passion project we decided to take up as a team and my contribution was visualizing and detailing the form of the lamp and the functional elements like the optimal time duration of the lights.
